Description
Mild steel plate is flat, low-carbon steel plate used as the base material for heavy fabrication — base plates, gussets, tanks, machine bodies, wear plates, ramps, and cut-to-shape components. Its combination of strength, weldability and workability makes it the default plate for structural and general engineering work. Thicker plates handle serious structural loads; thinner ones suit enclosures and lighter fabrication.
Mild steel plate is stocked in a range of thicknesses and standard sheet sizes, and is commonly supplied cut to size for a specific part.
