Description
Black iron checkered plate (also called chequered or tread plate) is steel plate with a raised diamond or teardrop pattern rolled into one face, giving a slip-resistant surface. It is the standard material for flooring, walkways, stair treads, ramps, trailer beds and platforms where grip underfoot is a safety requirement. The pattern provides traction while the plate underneath carries the structural load.
Checkered plate is supplied in a range of thicknesses and standard sheet sizes; the thickness is chosen for the load the surface must bear. It is frequently cut to size for specific flooring or platform work. See the specifications below for available thicknesses and sizes.
