MS plate thickness and weight.
Mild steel plate in ASTM A36 / SS400 on standard 4×8 ft (1220×2440mm) sheets; larger structural plates by order. Weight is a density calculation: kg/m² = 7.85 × thickness in mm.

Imperial-called plates are normally supplied at the metric nominal (1/4" = 6.0mm). True-imperial 6.35mm runs about 5.8% heavier — a true 1/4" 4×8 sheet is ~148 kg. Confirm the actual millimeter on your quote.

Common questions
How do I compute plate weight?
kg/m² = 7.85 × thickness in mm. A 4×8 ft sheet is 2.97 m², so multiply kg/m² by 2.97 for the sheet weight.
Is a 1/4-inch plate really 6mm?
Usually yes — PH stock is supplied at the metric nominal. A true 1/4" (6.35mm) is about 5.8% heavier. Confirm which one your design assumes.
What sheet sizes are available?
4×8 ft is the standard sheet; heavier structural plate comes in 5×20 ft and 6×20 ft by order.
