Description
Grade 40 deformed bar is reinforcing steel with a 40,000 psi (275 MPa) minimum yield, the mid grade specified for low-rise structures, residential construction and general reinforcement where Grade 60's higher strength is not required. Its ribbed surface bonds firmly with concrete, and it is often chosen for smaller-diameter bars and lighter structural elements where ductility and workability matter as much as raw strength.
Produced to Philippine National Standard specifications, Grade 40 is commonly stocked in the smaller diameters used for house construction, slabs, footings and tie bars. Matching the grade to the structural drawing is essential — engineers specify grade deliberately, and mixing grades on site invites problems.
