Description
C-purlins are cold-formed steel sections in a C profile, used as the horizontal members that span between rafters or trusses to support roofing and wall cladding. Light yet stiff, they carry the load of roof sheets and transfer it back to the main frame, and their shape makes them easy to overlap, bolt and fasten. C-purlins are a fundamental component of virtually every steel-roofed building in the country.
Locally, C-purlins are supplied in standard depths, thicknesses (gauge) and lengths sized to the roof span and load. Purlin gauge is a common place where corners get cut — too thin and the roof deflects or fails in strong wind, so matching gauge to span matters.
