Description
Base Plate — flat mild steel plate for base plates, gussets, bases, machinery and fabrication. Stocked in standard 4×8 ft sheets across common thicknesses, cut-to-size on request.
The base plate is a fabricated steel plate welded or bolted to the bottom of a steel column to spread its load onto the foundation and provide anchor-bolt holes for fixing down. Base plates are a fundamental structural component — they transfer the concentrated load of a column into the concrete footing over a larger area, and locate the column precisely on its anchor bolts. Their size, thickness and hole pattern are engineered to the column load and anchor layout.
Base plates are supplied fabricated to size, or cut and drilled to a specific structural detail, in mild steel of the required thickness.
