The A325 hexagonal bolt is a heavy-duty structural bolt manufactured to ASTM A325, the standard for high-strength bolting in steel-to-steel structural connections. These are the bolts that hold steel building frames, beam-to-column joints and bracing together, engineered to be tensioned to a specified load so the connection carries force through friction. Using a genuine A325 where the drawings call for one is a structural safety requirement — an ordinary bolt in its place can fail under load.
